I no longer live in Omaha but I always swing by La Buvette when I’m in town. The meat & cheese plate is divine. The wine selection can’t be beat and the vibes overall are immaculate. I always stop by the deli next door to grab some items to take on the plane back home to make a charcuterie. My favorite place in the city.
I went to New York last summer and I had the sandwich on focaccia bread that changed my life, I went to Italy the year before and had some sandwiches that changed my life as well. This sandwich is the third time that a sandwich has changed my life. It was a religious experience and I can’t wait to go back. I’m thinking about taking out a second mortgage so that I could have them at my fingertips every moment of my life. If you have not gone here and asked the wonderful woman behind the counter to just make you a masterpiece sandwich using their cured salamis, cheeses, spreads, veggies etc. on their house made focaccia bread... Then you are so lucky to be able to say that you are about to endure the best moment of your life. Wear your pearls and get your hair done because you’ll want to remember this moment for the rest of your life. What a wonderful life we get to live now that we all know where the best sandwich in Omaha is.
Perfect place to enjoy the weather after the farmers market. We appreciated that the patio was dog friendly and the food choices were unique and flavorful!
One of my favorite places in downtown Omaha. The aesthetic feels like you’re back in Europe, and their vast wine selection makes that dream a reality. Their food is delicious as well! In addition to a great cheese plate, their duck entree and quail is not to be missed. I wish they took reservations!
I've wanted to try this place for a while and it did not disappoint. The dinning area flows out onto the patio for what I assume is just for the warmer parts of the year and the front of the restaurant is very open with much of the front opened up. It would be hard to overstate how good the bread is here. This is the table bread they give out when you order food. There's a few different varieties, all fresh baked, served with good butter. This is not your standard fare as far as free bread goes, this bread is above and beyond the call of its duty. The pumpkin soup I had was too notch, one of the best soups I've had in a while. Then came the beef bourguignon. I'm very fond of the classics and this was a excellent example of the dish. It's important when you go here to get as many things that you can dip bread into as possible because the bread is so good and they will bring you more... to some extent.
For those who know what a Parisian bistro is really like, one can easily close their eyes and be transported back to the 20th or Latin Quarter with this remarkable little bistro and Wine Bar (just with midwestern friendliness). The menu is all hand drawn so bring spectacles; but everything on the menu is as fresh as it can be. Recently, I had phenomenal duck sausages with a parsnip puree that were to die for! Incredible wine selection too. This is easily the most charming restaurant in all of the Old Market so get here early before the line builds up!
If I lived in Omaha, I'd be in danger of visiting too often! I love the ambience. The wine menu is pretty extensive, and reasonably priced. My open faced sandwich was delicious. There are a lot of bottles of wine to explore, with other hard alcohol as well. I highly recommend checking this place out.
I enjoy coming here for the food and the outdoor seating (a huge plus: it’s dog-friendly). We dine here regularly, as the outdoor ambiance almost makes you feel like you’re in Europe. However, the service is consistently terrible, and the food takes painfully long to arrive. It usually takes about 15 minutes just to get water and 45–50 minutes for the food to be served. The waitstaff frequently forgets requests, and they don’t bring bread. It also seems like they are understaffed.
